My Church, My Family!

As I stepped into Jared & Jerb’s place for camp meeting on Sat, the hearty chat among the leaders simply lifted my spirit.

Shing’s encouraging smile gave a boost too!

Shortly, the lot went for lunch while I stayed back to update some changes in the camp program.

It was nice to work in the study room while listening to CHC’s “Reign” album.

Track 6 “Out of My Hands” is especially ministering during the time when I need it the most!

The truth is… My new work as a Personal Banker has been weighing my heart.

Well… Colleagues are nice and the environment is like a family.

The problem is… there are many new financial technicalities and market mechanisms that I need to grasp quickly. I have my helpless moments when customers are right in front of me, asking some product questions but the two-week old me can’t offer that immediate help and my colleagues are all on their hand phones, entertaining to different enquiries from customers!

Having said that, I guess I am my biggest obstacle!

If you do not know, I am quite a perfectionist and demand a lot from myself. To avoid that unnecessary stress... Perhaps, I should just take one step at a time and learn to R~E~L~A~X…

Coming back… When I was touched by the song, Jerb happened to come out from her room and gave a warm & loving “Hi Joanne!”

Caught unaware, I quickly rolled back my tear, hoping that the sharp Jerb will not spot anything. But I doubt so as my sniffle seems to give me away.

I went into the study room and continued with the editing.

A while later, bubbly Amber reached. She popped into the room and let out a chirpy “Hi!” and as usual, almost narrated her day’s happening but decided to change target after catching “DND” signals from me. Hee…

And there was Innocent Jerb in her room, trying to get ready for service when Amber conveniently knocked on closed door (I wouldn't do this… :p), candidly said “Hi” and spontaneously greeted Baby J as well! After which, she went on rattling her “Rapture” story… That’s our Amber!

What about me? In the room with my eyes fixed on the screen, trying to put the pieces together…. What a familiar sight isn’t it? Haha…

Shortly, the group returned from lunch and meeting started with some serious talk from Jared about changes in camp. Not long later… Our discussion deviated to some funny jokes and we gotta discipline ourselves to be back on track once again…

Joker Joseph then arrived and brought the atmosphere to another high with his forever-direct and exaggerating jokes!

See how diverse our personalities are... But yet, one of the strengths in ET zone is our UNITY!

We go through thick & thin together and share our lives like a family!

I like what Pastor Phil Pringle meant… The church is not built on one man or one woman alone but by you and I whose love & unity CEMENT this house together.

Even when the church is going through a rough patch recently, the members continue to unite our hearts, gather in the weekly services, praise and worship God, serve Him & people, out from a GENUINE HEART.

I can’t help but to think of Pastor Kong and the immense pressure he is facing.

All he wants is to love God and add value to people’s lives… but there are many adversaries.

Here is a man who has always been very strict with himself, physically and spiritually. Just take a look at his Before & After physique! And sense his conviction to make up a even a day of fast when he needed to end his long fast earlier.

My heart goes out for my beloved pastor!

If you have seen his toil, you simply can’t bring yourself to utter anything bad about him.

I love Pastor Kong, I love CHC, I love ET zone!

Come join us with an OPEN MIND and you will understand what I mean.

A caution... We are NOT PERFECT people (putting hand on heart). We are just in the progress of learning how to work things out...

One After Another!

To continue where we left off in the earlier entry...

The subzone had fun at Sentosa last month!
Despite the rainy season, weather on that day was EXTREMELY good, with the sun smiling WARMLY at us! Praise God! We prayed and fasted for it!

-
The event was a success!
I must say... the CGCs did a good job in putting the pieces together!
Kudos to Sel, Yan Ming, Edward, Alicia and Sing Xuan!

The following weekend, I attended a "counselling" workshop at Mecure, JB!

Pst. Derek shared valuable insights abt his counselling experiences. The training was taken to another level with practical demonstrations! A good reminder on the importance of working together with Holy Spirit!

Above all the learning, I had a wonderful time with bubbly Minghui!
I think I know her more after this retreat!

Coming back to SG, it was meetings & preparation for CAMP BELIEVE which finally kick off last week!

-(Here we are, at one of the game stations...
We cannot resist the fun and play our own game! Haha!!!)

-
The next day, the campers gathered for DRAGON BOAT!
-
We learnt about rowing techniques from the instructor and had a crazy time water fighting when our boats come close to each other! Players ended up happily drenched!!!
-
On the last day, we had HAT PARTY!
-
-
The top 3 cheers were showcased!
I think all eight teams performed well! So proud of them esp. those in the subzone!
-
The night ended with a "Bdae Celebration By The River" for 5 cg members!
-
- -
Last Sunday at S3 Fiesta, my subzone and Joseph's set up "Bull's Eye" game booth!
So happy that the game was well-received! :)

Last night, ET zone had our 2nd overnight PM in the year. We had a good time soaking in the presence of God! It was 3plus in the morning when I reached home. Despite the late/ early hour, I was wide-awake after much praying!
-
For the whole of today, my whole family and I were busy touching up our home and preparing for my brother's wedding tomorrow! So happy & excited for him!
-
The next few days will be packed with Xmas cg, orphanage visit, ET leaders' Xmas dinner, and candlelight services!
-
The following week will release the much-awaited Xmas drama, Ginny's ROM at Crowne Plaza and ET leaders' retreat at Malacca!
-
Two weeks left before the year comes to an end...
How time FLIES!
It seems like yesterday when 2009 just begun...!

ε…«ζœˆεδΊ”

The cg celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival last Friday!
We bought mooncakes for refreshment and went for lantern walk.
-

-(What are the people up to?)

(Here's Edward in action- trying to direct a "HEART" formation!)

N351- cg of LOVE!
-
I must say Edward is really an artistic person. He has a knack for drama, arts & design! :)
Kudos to Jing Ying too who co-ordinated the mid-autumn celeb! Good job in seeing things through! A lovely night!
-
After the event, I went home to catch a few hours of sleep before heading to Keith & Shermin's wedding at Hort Park! :)

-

So happy for this couple! They are one of the most GENEROUS & KINDEST people I ever met! :)

Here are some pics taken during the holy matrimony on Sat and the wedding dinner on Mon!

(I love this pic- So glam!)

(We enjoyed ourselves!)

ET zone Adults' Retreat- Encounters!

Our zone had adults' retreat last weekend!
It was held at Mecure, Johor Bahru.

Bro Ed shared a great word! God's presence was strong & tangible!
A great time spent at the telematch, fishing game and water bomb!
Each team even put up a drama on the finale night!

Catch many great pics here and here!

Overall, it is an EYE-OPENER for me!
When adults play... they can REALLY PLAY; sometimes even WACKIER than youths!

(one of the unforgettable "Kodak" moments as many agree!)

Can't stop laughing when I see playbacks in drama & games...

I was praising the adults for their energy & enthusiasm and a fellow zone member happily commented... "All these playfulness is just suppressed. The people are grateful for a chance to LET IT OUT..." WOAH!

Youth rocks! Adults... ROAR!!!

Leaving with you... our ET zone adult cg video!

Camp CastAway!

Camp CastAway is hilarious!!!

Really enjoyed watching the campers in their "KODAK" moments!
Who can forget...
- Tian Yi w his "studious" look & intensive praying?

- Darwin & Jason dancing around the banana tree

- Jon Choo w his endless "surround-sound system" roar

- Yan Ming w his hokkien interpretation... "Jesus' very good"

- The various Spoof Awards... "Chio Bu" & "Flasher" etc.

The exaggerated dramas made you laugh & laugh, until you forget to realise... "Wait a minute! What's the link to the original bible story?"

Nobody cares! The crowd totally enjoyed themselves in the hot & stuffy room! You just GOT TO BE THERE at the scene to fully appreciate the HUMOUR!

After svc yesterday, the subzone gathered for lunch and we could not help but to keep on talking fondly abt the camp for H-O-U-R-Ssss!!! The jokes just went go on & on.... :)

Overall, Camp CastAway is F-U-N!!!

Camp Phenomena!

Camp Phenomena was GREAT!!!

It's certainly a good product of the leaders' numerous meetings & plannings...
I thank God that the whole event went well and God is indeed on our side- NO RAIN until all activities ended and when "air-con" is much needed during our grand finale in the school hall. :)

What I enjoy about the camp?
=
- The TOUCH from God during Day One worship
I knelt down before God, bared my heart out, cried so much and at the end, needed to borrow tissue to wipe away the sticky pool of tears on the floor, hoping the aircon will quickly dry the wet spot. This is the same touch I experienced during Breakaway camp six months ago and it is exactly for the same encounter that drew me to this camp!
=
- The Lifehouse's Everything skit performed by our own zone ppl- Lucas & team. It's awesome! Great job guys!
-
- The "Super Heroes Game"
Had fun watching the teams learning different skills and displaying the power in the "battlefield"

- The "Work-in-Process" with the rest of leaders & helpers
I learnt a lot by simply serving. Something in me broke...

I willingly took leave to be PART of the camp...
There's just something about the camp that I can draw from!
The Dynamics, "Sweating-Out-Together", "Let's Make-It-Happen spirit"...

Like how the famous saying goes... "It's the JOURNEY that counts, not the destination."

Feasty Monday!

My Raffles colleagues and I had LUNCH at "Em by The River"- a nice & cosy restaurant @Robertson Quay.

This place is one of my AMAZING DISCOVERIES durg my random exploratory trips!
Probably you are not aware, I have a quest to explore NEW places- be it for HANG OUTs or merely just a simple deposit to my personal mind bank. :) Hee...

After a short 8-min walk from our work place, all of us HOPPED onto the big & bouncy sofa upon arrival!
-

=
Looking at menu, you can see a good assortment of dishes... Sandwiches, Pastas, Fish & Chips, Steak etc. all with a price range btw S$6-S$15.
Hot beverages like coffee & tea, soft drinks only cost ard S$5.
=
We ordered grilled salmon, steak, sandwiches and salads!
The sandwiches (like what u see in the pic) are really tasty & affordable!
Each only costs btw S$6-S$8! (considered very cheap for restaurant standard)
-
=

We had a nice girl's talk while savoring our food.
Enjoying ourselves so much that we STRUGGLED to get up from the sofa and get back to work. Hee...
To console ourselves, we concluded that we will return to this place.. perhaps on some Friday nights! So that we can have spend LONGER TIME with one another!

(beautiful place ya?)

XMAS DINNER with the ET LEADERS & HELPERS was at Pepperoni Pizza (behind National JC)...

Look at their GIGANTIC family-size pizza! An EYE-POPPER rite?

(compare Nic's head and the pizza)

7 of us (Garv, Lucas, Zhifu, Amber, Bernice, Michele and I) ordered a FAMILY-SIZE PIZZA and were entitled to pick any two flavours for this size. We agreed on a combination of both Hawaiian and salmon flavour.

Everyone was so excited when the pizza came! Each of us happily ate about 2-3 slices each!

After the dinner, there was a XMAS GIFT EXCHANGE.

I've got a 2GB thumbdrive from Jerb! (It is one of the items in my wish list), coupled with somethg extra from her- a pretty bracelet! Yeah!

It has been an enjoyable night with the ET leaders & helpers!
We are just like a family together.
ET zone rocks!
